Help4Hedgehogs offers help and advice to those with sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs. We are located in Herstmonceux, East Sussex and our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and care for sick hedgehogs with the aim to releasing them back into the wild where they belong.
From small beginnings with training from Vale Wildlife in Hedgehog First Aid & Rehabilitation and around six hedgehogs our first year, to suddenly over 100 in a year. We are so grateful for our awesome vet team, as well so much help from wonderful people.

Hedgehogs
Erinaceus europaeus, or Hedgehog is Britain's only spiny mammal. Instantly recognisable by its coat of approximately 6000 spines that hangs over its body like a cloak, concealing a furry underside with long legs and a short tail.
Hedgehogs are in decline in Britain and are now listed as "Vulnerable" on Britain's red list of mammals. According to the latest State of Britain's hedgehogs report, numbers of hedgehogs have fallen by up to 30% in urban areas and 50% in rural areas since the Millennium. (95% of the Hedgehog population has been lost since the 1950's) There is no single cause, which makes it more important than ever to help our spikey friends. |
